Faith Changes People

by Mike Ratliff

Christianity is unique among all the other religions. It it the only one in which believers are justified by faith rather than by works. This faith is not simply a belief system. It is not anything that can be generated by the believers either. It is a supernatural gift by God to those whom He saves. This supernatural faith changes people dramatically and eternally. This devotion by Martin Luther gives us a wonderful insight into this miracle of salvation.

  1. Great devotion! Leaves me wondering…who is man that He is mindful of him? Rejoicing…a new creation living in the warm light of eternity… Thanks, Mike.

  2. No man made works can ever glory in His sight. And so God gives faith which in its essence is a glorification of God Himself and His works. And therefore God is the Alpha and Omega, and in Him “we live and move and have our being”. He is the Creator and the Sustainer. He is all in all and before all. And then God Almighty, August and unapproachable, infinitely condescends to offer in Himself a red carpet of approachability through…works? No! Riches? No! Intellect? No! Believe in Him and His work, done. I agree with Jessica, why? Again the answer is past finding out embedded in Him. We see in part, but oh how little a part it is. I can imagine the Angel in heaven shouting “Anyone who walked through the Gates of Splendor by even one good work please stand!”. And the entire blood bought throng falls prostrate on our faces before the Lion of the Tribe of Judah who alone – ALONE – is worthy!

  3. Beautiful piece Mike! It reminds of the Book of James where it is faith that truly works. I just put up a poem I wrote. I couldn’t figure out how to stop the line skipping though. LOL God Bless you and your family!
