If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. Matthew 16:24-25
If God has called you to be truly like Jesus in all your spirit, He will draw you into a life of crucifixion and humility. He will put on you such demands of obedience that you will not be allowed to follow other Christians. In many ways, He seems to let other good people do things which He will not let you do.
Others who seem to be very religious and useful may push themselves, pull wires, and scheme to carry out their plans, but you cannot. If you attempt it, you will meet with such failure and rebuke from the Lord as to make you sorely penitent.
Others can brag about themselves, their work, their successes, their writings, but the Holy Spirit will not allow you to do any such thing. If you begin to do so, He will lead you into some deep mortification that will make you despise yourself and all your good works.
Others will be allowed to succeed in making great sums of money, or having a legacy left to them, or in having luxuries, but God may supply you only on a day-to-day basis, because He wants you to have something far better than gold, a helpless dependence on Him and His unseen treasury.
The Lord may let others be honored and put forward while keeping you hidden in obscurity because He wants to produce some choice, fragrant fruit for His coming glory, which can only be produced in the shade.
God may let others be great, but keep you small. He will let others do a work for Him and get the credit, but He will make you work and toil without knowing how much you are doing. Then, to make your work still more precious, He will let others get the credit for the work which you have done; this to teach you the message of the Cross, humility, and something of the value of being cloaked with His nature.
The Holy Spirit will put a strict watch on you, and with a jealous love rebuke you for careless words and feelings, or for wasting your time, which other Christians never seem distressed over.
So make up your mind that God is an infinite Sovereign and has a right to do as He pleases with His own, and that He may not explain to you a thousand things which may puzzle your reason in His dealings with you.
God will take you at your word. If you absolutely sell yourself to be His slave, He will wrap you up in a jealous love and let other people say and do many things that you cannot. Settle it forever; you are to deal directly with the Holy Spirit, He is to have the privilege of tying your tongue or chaining your hand or closing your eyes in ways which others are not dealt with. However, know this great secret of the Kingdom: When you are so completely possessed with the Living God that you are, in your secret heart, pleased and delighted over this peculiar, personal, private, jealous guardianship and management of the Holy Spirit over your life, you will have found the vestibule of heaven, the high calling of God.
Wow Mike, we know what you are going through. Been there ourselves 4 times now. No fun for sure. We hold you all up in prayer. Just remember the Lords will will be done no matter what. May He comfort you in this most difficult time.
Oh dear brother, Your precious mom will be in my prayers. May the Lord give you traveling mercies and His strength.
My Dear Brother Mike,
May God’s peace be with you, may the Lord give you His strength, patience and peace to make it through this trying time, May He guide you and your family on His path, in Jesus’ name we pray.
In Christ,
David
I am praying right now.
2 Corinthians1:3-4 What a wonderful God we have-He is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the source of every mercy,
and the one who so wonderfully comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials. And why does He
And why does He doe this? So that when others are troubled, needing our sympathy and encouragement,
we can pass on to them this same help and comfort God has given us.
Seeking His Kingdom,
Amy
Praying for your family Mike!! My dad had heart surgery seven years ago and he is doing great. Deb
Aw dear brother
These are hard times. Been through both of these illnesses too with family.
I will pray for you all that the Lord will draw you so close and hide you under His wings and that He will give you His peace.
(I know you know this already, but I want to encourage you again anyway:-) ) Know with all you heart that the Lord knows what is going on and that He loves you and that you can trust Him with the outcome whatever it may be.
Bless you
Dear Mike – I hope it is ok – but I placed your request on the FD forum too – in the private lobby section, so that we can all pray on this side too.

Mike:
I will be praying for you and your family.
Praying God’s will for your family whatever that may look like… These things are never easy and yet God’s peace and joy abide in you because of Christ… We love you much.
God is gracious, glory to His name.
Will keep the family in prayer. God bless.
Absolutely…
All, Thank you for your prayers. It is good for God’s people to come together and pray like this. I have felt nothing but comfort, peace, and joy since I posted this. My mother is out of surgery. She had an Angioplasty (sp) with one stent (sp). My son is a physician and told me last night that most people come out of this type of surgery and do just fine. I got to the Hospital several hours after the surgery. My wife had volunteered to stay there all night a make sure that my mother would not bend her right leg or raise her head so she would not get a blood clot. In any case, I stayed in the hospital room with them all night. We are now at my daughter’s house resting while my sister and father are there at the hospital with my mother. The surgeon told us this morning that he will probably release her to go home on Thursday.
Please continue to pray for my mother and father and my family and that God would be glorified through all of this.
In Christ
