“But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:23-24 ESV)
The only way a Christian can walk through each day in victory over their flesh to the glory of God is to do so as an act of humble worship of our Lord Jesus Christ. This worship is one of rejoicing in Christ’s glory. When our Lord bled and died on that cruel Cross, He fulfilled His primary mission in purchasing and redeeming a people for Himself. His victory at the Cross crushed the head of the serpent and provided the only way for fallen Man to be reconciled with our Holy God. In this we marvel and it really should draw us into daily worship at the altar in our hearts because:
Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory. (1 Timothy 3:16 ESV)
When we are in the midst of this daily walk of worship in light of our Lord’s glory and the miracle of our own completely undeserved salvation, we are worshipping the Father in spirit and truth with not only our devotion but with how we actually live.
