Warrengate and Where Do We Go From Here?

by Mike Ratliff

I have long appreciated the direct, biblical way Bob DeWaay ministers. With Bob, there are no doubts left as to who is his Lord. Today, I listened to his interview on Crosstalk Radio with Ingrid Schlueter here dealing with what has come to be known as Warrengate. With Bob and Ingrid there is no dancing around the subject. They come directly to the point and it is soon made very clear where Rick Warren really stands where it concerns the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Another favorite radio show of mine is Dr. James White’s “The Dividing Line.” I appreciate that name very much for I believe that is exactly what God is doing right now. He is allowing the filthy and evil, the pretenders if you will, to fill up the cup of His wrath against them as they seem to have been given free reign. On the other hand, there is a very well defined line separating what calls itself Christian, but proves that it isn’t by being on the wrong side of this line while that which is genuine never budges from the solid, biblically defined, side of that line to which only His genuine disciples adhere.

I am still not so sure how to respond to John Piper and his compromises, but to Warrengate, I am convinced that we should look at this as God further clarifying His Church. Those who are all for compromise, unity at all costs, prove that they are on the wrong side of this solid, biblically defined line while those who love God’s Truth, hate compromise, and refuse to go there, will continue to turn from evil, and remain on the very well defined and biblical side of that line. Yes, we must pray for John Piper and his repentance in this. Yes, we must continue to oppose the Purpose Driven paradigm as an attack by our enemy on the Church. My response to Warrengate is here. In the meantime, let us continue to pray for the repentance of these people, but most importantly, that God’s will be done.

I would also like to encourage each of you reading this with the following. I will never compromise with the “city of man.” This would include all false forms of Christianity such as the Purpose Driven paradigm, the Emergence Christianity, the New Evangelism, et cetera. I will continue to seek the face of God in daily Bible studies and seek to feed the Body of Christ spiritual food to enable it to endure in this suffering age. I am traveling right now, but will return home this Sunday evening. God’s will be done.

Please continue to pray for us in this ministry.

Soli Deo Gloria!

  1. MRWBBIII- wow, thank you.

Praying that the Lord mighty swiftly convict hearts.

    Thank you again, Mike.

  2. I’m right there with ya Mike. I am not going to come to any conclusion right now about Piper. I know his doctrine is sound and other than that…I’m not going to presume on his motives. I pray that this all works out to glorify God…but other than that…I will be silent.

  3. You are not going to be a popular man among the masses Mr. Ratliff, but I deeply appreciate your writing. Thank you once again for your willingness to stand apart, to discern what is happening and then sharing that with us.

I heard a man on radio this week, talking of how the “Lord” translated him from where he was in an auditiorium to a tiny apartment in Russia so that he might minister to a young girl. He then went on to say that the Lord spoke to him that all believers have the capability of doing this if we just have enough faith. He also told of how the ‘Lord’ shortened a 5 1/2 hour road trip to 2 hours just for him. The sad, scary thing is that there are probably thousands of listeners who believe this.

I finished Erwin Lutzer’s book “Who Are You To Judge” earlier this week and was reminded that Satan comes as an angel of light and is quite good at imitating what is real when I heard this story.

Oh, may God give us insight into His word. May He give us discernment and a desire to live by what He has written so that we won’t follow another. May we take the time to check our hearts and make sure we are in the way; that it is He who is directing our steps and ordering our paths.

    Bless you Sir.
    Louise

  4. OH MY! Good video…… It is a time of dividing…… It is about truth and souls. “they received not the love of the truth that they might be saved.” ONLY because of the Holy Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ can I be any different. Otherwise I would be here; “they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers having itching ears.” What wonder to see this playing out before our very eyes, sometimes it seems like a horrible nightmare from which you can’t awake. As you watch so many people who love themselves, their fellings, their thoughts, so much they insist on “having it their way”. They forsake the one and only Lord Jeuss Christ. Mercy Lord……In judgement, remember Mercy!

  5. You are welcome Louise. Examples like that just amaze me that anyone would “fall” for that sort of thing. God will answer that prayer my sister. To God be the glory.

  6. Stella, that verse always intrigued me…..it does not say that they didn’t receive the truth …. they didn’t receive the LOVE of the truth! Mighty statement!

And I have posted the video clip on my Facebook page, I am sure that some will watch it, but not comment! I have some family members who are in the word/faith movement (AG church).

Hope it will reach some, Lord willing!

  7. We did run. And glad we did!! We are sick of the false watered down gospel. Good post Mike.
