Grace of Contrition and Confession – The Joy of Repentance

Right after God saved me in 1986 I was taught to confess and repent of my sins as a way of walking before the Lord. What this does is keeps us in fellowship with God. Unconfessed and unrepented of sins drive a wedge between us and God spiritually. This lack of fellowship causes many spiritual maladies that cause many undesirable issues in Christians. To be in a close walk with God is vital. This missive by Steve Camp is a must read for the Christian who desires that Spirit-led walk with our Lord.

  1. Thanks for sharing that with us, Mike!

I was struck with the thought of how it feels to repent as a new and immature Christian, remembering how oppressive and fearful it felt, because I did not know the other side of repentance.

Compared with now, knowing the joy and restoration that comes afterward, I chase repentance, with the full assurance of the cleansing power of my Savior’s blood!

I think it is important for mature Christians to come alongside the new, holding them close as we encourage them to repentance, assuring them of the joy that is to follow, testifying mightily of God’s grace with praise and thanksgiving.

    God bless you, friend,

  2. Terri,

You siad something here that is very profound. You have discovered your path to maturity. 🙂 When we learn to chase repentance, to live in repentance, to “chase” repentance we walk in Repentance with Joy. We are walking Spirit-led when we do this. God grants us repentance and we grow in Grace. I am honored to be called your friend.

    In Christ
