Holy Holy Holy

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessèd Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Who was, and is, and evermore shall be.

Holy, holy, holy! though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see;
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in power, in love, and purity.

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy Name, in earth, and sky, and sea;
Holy, holy, holy; merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessèd Trinity!

Reginald Heber, 1826

    The verse below is one of my absolute favorites of any hymn. I long for the day when all the saints adore Him and we stand around that glassy sea casting down our crowns in deference to Jesus Christ our Lord. We’ve lost this sense of reverence. Thanks for posting this. Wendy

  2. Wendy,

    You are welcome. I agree with you. Jesus is NOT our buddy or our best friend. That is ridiculous. He is God and I, for one, cannot wait to fall before Him like this. I believe that all who truly have a handle on the magnitude of their salvation cannot view Jesus outside of deep reverence and gratitude.

  3. I am in total agreement Mike. I adore songs about how Holy our Lord is. I feel like a lot of music these days doesn’t focus on the holiness, nor is it scriptural. This hymn has to be one of my favorites as it is one of the first that touched my heart after being saved. I say this a lot, however I am truly blessed when I read your posts because they always confirm the way I am feeling about the Lord, or a sermon, or a verse I have heard. You are most certainly filled with the Spirit! God Bless!

  4. Alxxndria,

    Thank you for your encouraging words. I can tell by your comments that you love the Lord are doing all you can to live for Him. I rejoice whenever God brings someone to me that knows Him that way. I pray that God will continue to draw you closer and use you for His glory. I have no doubt that he already is.

  5. Mike,

    That is a beautiful old hymn. I also have been listening to the old hymns for a few months now. They seem to Glorify our precious Lord so much better. I think you are feeling our feelings Mike because your also posting about my journey. I I rarely respond but I just really feel I have to because I find it such a blessing knowing their are others out there to share this overflowing Love for our wonderful merciful Lord.. People who actually understand! Last night before sleeping I was also thinking about how great it would be just to run and fall at His feet. God Bless and love to all my precious brothers and sisters in Christ. Deb
