Charles Spurgeon Quote

“The knowledge of God is the great hope of sinners. Oh, if you knew him better, you would fly to him! If you understood how gracious he is, you would seek him. If you could have any idea of his holiness, you would loathe your self-righteousness. If you knew anything of his power, you would not venture to contend with him. If you knew anything of his grace, you would not hesitate to yield yourself to him.”

  1. The God given linguistics of Spurgeon have always ministered to me. And I consider his approach and even terminology to be a great balance. To hear him preach you may think he is advocating free will but in reality he is not. That to me is a true disciple who believes in God’s sovereignty but uses the Biblical template as his example rather than shying away from any terminology that he might find perplexing.

He once observed that at the moment we see Him we will consider ourselves a “thousand fools” to have ever been attracted to anything else! Amen!
