Who are those who cause divisions?

17 I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. 18 For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive. Romans 16:17-18 (ESV) 

I was born in 1951, but since my birthday is in October, I actually graduated from High School when I was 17. I started college in September and then on my 18th birthday, just a month or so later, I had to register for the draft. My draft number was 6. I had friends who did not even try to get a college exemption from the draft because their draft numbers were 300+. In any case, in 1973 I had left college before graduation and was informed that I had better be prepared to be drafted into the Army. Therefore, I joined the Navy. I went in on a delayed program so I could get the Computer Training they offered. Just one week after I signed those papers, the Vietnam peace accords were signed in Paris effectively ending the need for the draft. On June 1, 1973, I entered the U.S. Navy and learned what it meant to be in the military. Continue reading
